MSI Z87 G45 VS ASUS Maximus IV Hero VS Gigabyte Z87X UD4H

Thread Starter
Things I want in a Motherboard,

Good audio
Good build quality
Red and black colour scheme
Good NIC since we use a NZ service provider so our connection is very slow.

I've heard bad things about MSI so I'm sort of leaning away from that even though that's the only one that has everything I want, It's also the cheapest

Even though I'm in NZ I will be buying from Newegg through NZ post's YouShop.

I'm pretty happy with my Hero. No complaints.

Hero wins hands down, if you were comparing the gigabyte z87 - oc it would be a closer comparison. Gigabyte bios pretty much suck on z87 boards compared to Asus.

Good audio? Hero got you covered.
Good build quality with top notch components? Hero got you covered.
Red and black? Hero got you covered.

Read my little review of the hero on ocn. See what you think.

To be fair your comparing motherboards in three different pricing groups imo. The MSI board ive seen as low as $140, the gigabyte boards runs 190 and the hero is like 220. The Hero should be better then the rest, its also 80 more then the cheapest alternative. Its upto you if the benefits are worth the extra cost.

Personally i have a G45 and had exchanged a ASRock Extreme4 for it. The UEFI BIOS is very polished on the G45. The audio on it is better then the gigabyte board but i cant speak to how it compares with the Hero. I can say that it was much better then the extreme4 audio with same codec as it included Sound Blaster cinema software which impressed me as i can hear a big difference and im not that big into audio.

The G45 also has a Killer NIC for what its worth, i use wifi so i cannot comment on how well or what difference it makes.

Im very happy with my G45 and would highly recommend it. Id say comparing the G45 to the gigabyte board id hands down recommend the G45. Between the G45 and the Hero id say if its worth the extra money go with that. However for ~$80 you could add a dedicated audio card which should be better then any on board.
