Hello. gotta start somewhere.

Thread Starter
hi everybody from Tucson. right now i'm using an HP HPE H8-1214 that I just recently upgraded the graphics card and psu and now I can't get over the amazing difference in graphics I can run now. the stock card was(a rebranded 6000-series) Radeon HD 7450 with the stock 300w psu and I upgraded to an Asus Radeon HD 7770 2GB-DDR5 card powered by a Corsair CX500 psu. being as this is an off the shelf pc, i'm keeping the card running stock without overclocking. my next upgrade will be going from 10GB of DDR3-1333 RAM(channeled 4_2_4) to 16GB DDR3-1600(max limit)(channeled 8_8).

now I've got the bug and want to build a dedicated PC for MechWarrior 2, 3, & 4. i'm looking for the best way to go about building a gaming pc. I still have an old HP pc that's running Windows ME but it's got integrated audio and graphics and a 900mhz Celeron cpu. I got that computer when I started college back in 2001. I would like to know what hardware I can get(and I realize i'm going to be digging around on the internet for all this stuff.) and use, along with what custom case I can use. i'm thinking of getting the Asus P4P800 mobo as starters but was wondering if that's overkill for what i'm planning on doing. I know i'm going to be limited to 512mb ddr-400 ram, just want to know what hardware I should be looking to use. I've tried using the method found on youtube to play MechWarrior 2 on my windows 7 pc but found that it was too much of a hassle and my computer did not like it. that led me to make the decision to start looking into building a gaming pc specifically for the old MechWarrior games. I may also use this pc to run the old Diablo and StarCraft games.
