[WCCF] AMD To Commence Mass Shipping of Hawaii GPU in Early October - Page 9

Micro-stutter is very much still an issue with many games, it just so happens the very games I play. I have even gone as far as to disable ULPS, adjust or disable Overclocks, use different profiles for different games, it just doesn't matter. Manually overriding settings, altering config files, it doesn't matter.

Final Fantasy XIV - Extreme Micro-stutter, causing motion sickness.
League of Legends - Just doesn't work, transparent HUD and other odd issues.
Saints Row III - Extremely low frame rates and Micro-stuttering.
Chivalry - Same as Saints Row, though this is on the older UDK so I wasn't expecting much.

Those are just the most common games I am playing at the moment, I haven't gone back to see what Darksiders I and II are like with the newest beta drivers. Once upon a time I might have been ok with having to tweak EVERY game to an ultra detailed degree for it to work well, but not anymore.

Thanks.

By the way, I suspect microstuttering is an inherent reality of all multi-GPU systems on certain optimization states. They probably can make it super smooth but that might mean being very slow. Intercommunication between cards is extremely slow compared to communication in a chip itself hence to have in the end real syncing, must mean a big tradeoff of either performance or something else. And in this case it seems that 'something else' is going on a lot. There's probably a whole sequence of syncing one must do to be super smooth on video but if you omit some steps you greatly increase FPS but also lack of syncing.

It reminds me again of regular software: The more syncs between threads to keep common time and consistency the more the latency (which is the reason most interactive applications, like games, can't be as fast as offline apps.)

AMD needs a dual GPU to beat a single GPU, AMAZING. rolleyes.gif

I'm sure you're aware that a Single GPU, does not have the same issues that DUAL GPU's have, right?

If you want to argue semantics, at the time the first fixer ad was out, the frame pacing drivers weren't out, so AMD's cards were the ones in need of "The Fixer" rolleyes.gif

I dont care what they used to beat the titan, its faster and it costs 300$ less.

If you're own stuff isn't solid ( Single, or Double ) then you shouldn't give the false impression of such.

Besides, why was AMD boasting the single fastest GPU, when they have the 3rd fastest? rolleyes.gif
Fastest card not GPU but once/if Nvidia drops that dual 780 AMD will probably try to take single GPU crown so the game can start all over again.

After it wasn't selling at its asking price, AMD was forced to price drop. Don't act like it was at that price the whole time.

I would love to see a dual 780 card, but it'd probably cost $1500-1700.

I think that it is again in favour of AMD since before the price drop it was just faster and now its faster and cheaper.

A lot of times cards are priced higher at launch because of high demand and low stock. Titan vs GTX780 is a clear example. By pricing it $1000 they would never run out of stock. Now look at HD 58XX launch. HD 5870 was priced much lower then Nvidias current high end GTX285. People where jumping on HD 5870 and HD 5850 and they where so hard to get and by the time you could get them Nvidia had GTX480/70 out.

I'm surprised that so many AMD users claimed they had no CF issues for so long, prior to these beta drivers. They made it seem like everything was peachy and perfect, and slammed the sites that were reporting these very real issues.

im not going to go through all the games listed, but i'll take the biggest one and prove a point. LoL issues with hud and flickering: according to google/LoL forums issue started after a riot patch. It can affect both SLI and crossfire. Riot has not addressed a 30 page thread of complaints. Issue is clearly on Riots side and not AMD/Nvidia. There are many examples of the case affecting both sides if you google 'lol hud flickering'. So dont spin things like you normally do.
