Also have you perhaps considered that some people simply don't have a use for them?
Also (coming from a casual FPS player), my right thumb helps me control the mouse whatever the grip I use and without it I lack the necessary accuracy to play competitive with the top-tier players (in the current game). Even in MOBAs I find it hard to use the mouse buttons in intense teamfights (considering 'smartcast'-related options are used). Heck, I wouldn't even do that in DIII when on my Hardcore character.

Well there's your problem. Show me what the top players use, not the top aimers.

Boy, top players if you WANT - coolleR used Abyssus for a long time, Cypher & rapha using 1.1, strenx used SS Kinzu V1 for years, evil now using SS Kinzu V1, Avek - Razer Salmosa, noctis - Logitech G300 and many many other.

I'll answer your questions in order:
1. No one in this entire thread stated they use more keybinds in FPS than MMO. Your reading comprehension is frankly awful.
2. I'm not going to go into detail of what binds I use, as that would be way too long and has absolutely no bearing on the debate.
3. Yes, I currently play SWToR and I used to play WoW. I don't play MOBAs. Again, I don't see what that has to do with anything.
4. Yes, I've considered it, and I've come up with the conclusion that if they don't, they're not serious about gaming or skilled enough. Note that I clearly stated "if they don't find a use for thumb butons" and not "if they don't get a mouse with thumb buttons".

Regarding your last paragraph, get a mouse with a better thumb button design. Mine doesn't impede my mouse movement in any way.

"Boy" ?

Anyway, you're not contradicting any of my points. The fact that they use mice without thumb buttons means their design and tracking offer a better compromise for their particular playstyle than any mice that have thumb buttons, but it doesn't mean they wouldn't benefit from thumb buttons.

The extra buttons on the side of my mouse benefit me quite a lot in Gmod since I use one for Suit Zoom (Since some gamemodes don't have zoom or a crosshair), another one for crouching, another for walking and so on... The "Programmable keys" on my keyboard I can not seem to get them to work, I assign them to something in the profiling software then they do the default functions like F5 being screenshot and F1 locking the scoreboard overlay.

Actually I didn't mean to sound like I've jumped the gun, and I apologize.

As for the bold-ed part, it was due do this post:

in combination with the following quotation, a couple of lines below.
It rather implied it than stated it directly, however superior might have said that in other regards (which I doubt because of the remained of his post)

Please do mind that I only asked you two questions - whether you play MMOs and what exactly have you bound. Because this:

sounded to me like you actually use over five keys at once in a FPS and/or more than playing MMOs, as you said you have played them. (while you should be familiar to occur often, especially with the PvP aspect of WoW kept in mind)

As to answer number four: I've read your posts and I know your stand point, I also approve it. It wasn't directed at you. I get confused without nested quotations from time to time.

Anyhow, I've tried the DeathAdder (a friend of mine has it) and while it is undoubtedly better in FPS than my Naga, I find it hard to rely on the thumb buttons; but perhaps after a couple of days/weeks I may be used to them. Still, in a high-precision environment, I find the thumb key inconvenient and would use it for something like a melee attack or something abstract, not combat-related.

On a side note, as I mainly play MMOs, there is simply no way I'm replacing my mouse. For example, for competitive arena play in WoW I'm using 1 through 7, Q, E, ~, F, V, Z, X (repeat with Shift modifier), then all of the 12 mouse keys and the scroll in both directions. Also, as my main is a hunter, Ctrl+1 through 6. Without this mouse, this isn't happening.

Depends on what games you play. I never needed side buttons in Quake, CS and Unreal. Didn't even use side buttons in games that have a more complex control scheme, but some games have a variety of options and it adds more comfort to gaming.

In ArmA3 I have a total of four actions bound to the side buttons (click/hold and double click on both buttons), in Planetside 2 I used the special ability and melee on the side buttons (much quicker access than keyboard). In Half-Life 2 and other games I have secondary features on the side buttons, like zoom, flashlights, alternative fire modes, etc.

So I'd say in ArmA3 and Planetside 2 it is almost a necessity (for me), in other games it just adds a lot of comfort and ease of access, in other games I don't need those.

I use them in most games, but not all. They aren't exactly critical for me, but I find myself using them more often than not. I really like the macro options, so some games where I have to do something repetitive (click, move down, click, move down, click, move down, etc) I can bind that to my side buttons and do them 10 times faster.
