Quick question on the C1100s

Hi guys,

I have a quick question about the Dell C1100 before I order one. Can they boot on 2TB+ drives like the 3TB WD Reds? And do they even support 2TB+ hard drives natively without a raid card? (I do plan on getting a RAID card/SAS expander later on, but I don't need the storage space just yet).

Thanks!

Yes, they support drives larger than 2TB (I have 2 x 3TB in mine in a Storage Spaces Mirror). I do not think these have UEFI BIOS, so they cannot boot from a GPT partitioned drive, assuming you are booting Windows. You would have to partition the drive as MBR, which would only partition up to 2TB.

Alright thanks! I guess I'll have to keep one of my older 1TB Greens then.

They can boot from MBR partitioned drives which means upto 2TB.
