I've heard that putting a sound card in the top PCI slot can cause it to pick up noise sometimes. I'm not too fond of dual card set ups, but I am a fan of saving money, unless I lose something in return, such as silence with using 2 cards.

Last longer for what? With the GTX780 you'll still have more than enough brute force power to run almost every game on the market at 1440p maxed out. You'll have much less power consumption, and far less heat output, wich means less noise.
Not to mention once Maxwell comes, the GTX 780 will hold much better resell value than the dual HD 7950s. If you really want you can also just SLI it in 1-2 years when the price drops and buy a second one.

You understand exactly what I'm going for. Lol I don't intend to take any short cuts on my build and resell value is going to play a big part down the line for me. Back on the original subject though, how would you recommend me setting up the air flow in the case?

780 will worth more but its performance is poor compared to dual gpu at high res
