Is 4770k 4.5 possible on air?

I got a 4770k with my Maximus Hero, and also bought a dh-14 for it. I'm really hoping to reach at least 4.5, would this be possible? Or am I better off returning the dh-14 for h100 or something?

It depends on how good your chip is but I would say the majority should be able to do 4.5GHz with an NH-D14 for cooling smile.gif

I did 4.5GHz at 1.25v with my NH-D14 (stock fans) pre-delid with temps maxing out at around 80c on P95. But it depends, you could get a chip that needs 1.3v+ for that speed and a NH-D14 won't cut it, nor will the H100. But if you delid, the NH-D14 will be able to handle up to 1.4v while keeping temps below 90c.

I pushed my 2500k to 5.0Ghz with the NH-D14, that's a hell of a cooler, so I'm pretty sure that 4.5 on Ivy is do-able on air.

I hope it's possible, I have a 4770K + NH-D14 arriving today and 4.5ghz is my target smile.gif

We're in the same boat! My parts JUST arrived, building it now... biggrin.gifbiggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

Yes it's possible, just depends on your chips voltage dependency.
