sata pci cards

Thread Starter
I have an ssd that uses sata 3 6gbps
Would a pci card with sata 6gbps work well for my ssd as a boot drive with win7 installed?
My mobo only has 3gbps ports
Im assuming that the performance would be the same as if i had a sata 6gbps port on the mobo.

I assume you mean your sig-rig? Since it's AMD, it's only PCIe 2.0. (Kaveri will be the first with PCIe 3.0) That gives you 500 MB/s in each direction per lane, which is 4 Gb/s. You'd need at least x4; that could handle two or three SSDs. THIS also gives you a pair of USB 3.0 ports should you want them, but Windows 7 doesn't natively support them. That's really the only thing I could find.
