I probably should have updated this thread. Good thing I remembered about it I suppose.
So since I rma'd the last card MSi sent me another refurbish. It was working well since I received it on the 4th of October, I've played many different games with out any problems at all up until last night when I was on Skyrim. I was running Skyrim on 1080p ultra settings with over 180 mods, a few 2k and lower retextures, and no ENB's other than ENBoost. The card never went over 76C. The PC just completely shut off in the same manner I described in my initial post.
Am I just that unlucky or are these cards just not good? I have even questioned if there is something else in my system that may be at fault
I borrowed a friends GTX 660 earlier and installed it in my rig just to have everything boot up fully functional. Unfortunately I wasn't able to test my gpu in my friends machine since it wouldn't fit in the case.
So far I have gone through 3 cards, 1 brand new one and 2 refurbished from rma's.
I received the first card brand new factory sealed from Newegg on the 13th of February, rma'd it on the 10th of April.
Received a refurbish on the 6th of May, rma'd that one on the 21st of August and bought the new psu.
Received my current refurbish on the 4th of October, and it seems to have died last night on the 17th of November.
I've had these cards at stock settings and they never overheated. I do remember my current card did have some video flickering going on that would happen at random but it only happened around 2-3 times that I had completely forgot about it. I am not sure what is going on with these cards, I am at a loss at this point and have already started looking at some other gpu's for a replacement..
