dead LED on corsair k70 keyboard

Thread Starter
the LED on the F3 key just died, i am contemplating about RMAing it. does anyone know if the LED is easily replaceable? i wonder if i can replace it myself.

I had an LED go out on my Cooler Master Trigger and I decided to open up the cherry switch and look at replacing it, I can honestly say just RMA it, you'll never find the exact same LED and its intensity won't quie match if you get the color close. Also they require at least a de-soldering bulb to do the job without making a mess of other connections. Plus, if you RMA it you won't have to worry about having to replace it, if something more important goes out later (after you would have replaced the LED yourself).

How goes this issue? I'm looking at this keyboard and have seen a lot of issues regarding the LED's.

Well, there it goes - my F3 and F5 keys died. This is not my first broken corsair product. My headset Vengeance 1500 died after a month. And then there is the massive cost of shipping for an RMA. I wouldn't buy this if I were you. I'm sure more led's are about to die...

I would not try to fix it myself and risk losing the warranty.

This has always been my issue with backlit keyboards. It can look cool and they all have individual LEDs which is impressive. However, they also have little use and add 100+ things to your keyboard that can not only break, but are more likely to break than any other part of the keyboard.

Since an RMA can be a pain I personally would just keep it and try to forget about it.
