Fan issue on AsRock z87e-itx

Thread Starter
It seems that no matter how i set up the BIOS, the fans run at full speed. If I set them to anything else, it will just set them back to full. The dang thing sounds like a wind tunnel. I do have it overclocked, but am not too familiar with AsRock UEFI boards.

i5-4670K
Asrock z87e-itx
bitfenix prodigy
phanteks twin tower cooler

Thanks for any insight.

Are your temps running higher than the board wants them to be? No matter what you tell it to do, if it feels like its running too warm its going to run those things at full blast till it comes down to where it wants it to be. Might be as simple as that.

Failing that though, check and see if there is a bios update for that board. My a75ia was doing pretty much the same thing on 1.3...granted I had to go to 2.2 in order to use my CPU any way so I took care of the issue before I ever actually got around to looking into it. biggrin.gif

Edit: Also, is it running full blast all of the time, or only when you are sitting in the bios? I've seen a number of boards that ignore their own instructions when in the bios when it comes to fan control.

IT's full blast all the time. temps are in the 30s at idle and high 60s at full load. i guess i will try hunting for a bios update...

Updated bios from 1.5 to 1.9. Specifically stated that it had a CPU overclocking fan update. I can no enter what I want in the BIOS without it reverting, but the fans still run at max in windows...guess I'll have to keep messing with it.
