Winload.exe error Occuring Constantly...

Thread Starter
So I've run into a problem with windows. Recently I've been getting winload.exe error on the boot screen. The only option that remains when this happens is to format windows and install everything all over again. At first I thought it was a bug from Windows 8, seeing that I had recently installed it, so I installed Windows 7. The Same Thing Happened after a few weeks of operating on it, which kind of frustrated me, I formatted back to Windows 8 and all ran well for another few weeks when today it happened again. I'm starting to suspect a corrupt Hard Drive, so for now I installed Windows on another Hard Drive. However I would like someone to explain to me better what is going on? I'm turning off the computer normally so there's no sudden electric cuts there. The hard Drive has been in my possession for a few years now so it might be that it's just dying on me. Although if someone has an actual explanation to what's happening i'd appreciate it. biggrin.gif Thanks biggrin.gif

Think you could be right about your drive failing. Try booting to the install CD and go with the repair option. From there get to a cmd prompt and run BootRec.exe /fixmbr
If this works, the issue is that the sectors on your hard drive where the MBR lives are going south on ya.

You can probably check the SMART status of your HDD with CrystalDiskInfo or HDD Scan to find out what health it is in.
