[TS]SteelSeries Introduces the Siberia Elite Headset - Page 8

Do any of the originals have "Sidetone" as logitech calls it. It allows you to set the amount you hear yourself while using the headset, with 0 lag. I want to ditch my 930's but I can't find another brand that allows you to hear yourself with 0 lag frown.gif

I might get this for "casual" gaming. I love my Q701's, but I love the color stuff on the Siberia V2.

Oh snap, you are right! Also, It is 768 kHz by the way...

---
USB 3.0: Dual-Simplex, Shielded, Ultra-low Latency, No Polling. <-- Discrete channels for audio and microphone/etc.
USB 2.0: Half-Duplex, Unshielded, Average Latency, Polls. <-- Polls for audio or microphone.

Still don't get why certain things haven't upgraded to USB 3.0. I keep seeing this "USB 3.0 doesn't add anything for audio" stuff... uh yeah it does.

Using USB 3.0 would lock them out from a huge portion of the market - namely, console users. That is a HUGE portion of gaming headset sales, since having a high quality mic is so important with XBLG.

Its hard to believe there is much gain in the audio arena past USB2's 35MBps. Considering as Bluray is only 6 MBps (Video and Audio)

probably due to the fact that USB 2.0 still has enough bandwidth to handle full 1080p bluray with LPCM audio without any problem; headphones and a mic, no matter what audio fidelity you shove through it, is not going to be bandwidth limited.

I completely agree that great quality $150+ headphones will offer better sound quality, and I sincerely hope that I am not misunderstood.
As many have said, the comparisons are moot because they are in a different price range.

I like the look of these new headphones, and if in the market would definitely consider them providing they sit in the right price bracket.

The audible differences does wonders to accurate sound positioning, 3D spacial separation, and the sheer ability to distinguish every sound source in a middle of high active environments. I like to be able to tell the difference between 10 sources, their rifles, position, distance, height, etc. That extra 60 bucks corresponds to more then just double the sound quality.

Likewise, there are numerous headphones within the 40-60 dollar range, especially easily available int he UK, the offer sound quality that is leaps and bounds ahead of the V2s at the same price.

why do all these headsets/consoles use usb? it's so idiotic and seems to exist solely to prevent you from using any decent headphones
