I recently received a ADATA Premier Pro SP900 2.5" 64GB SSD. I am using it as a OS Drive. The only thing I have installed to the drive is Windows and the required patches. Right now I have about 11GB free on the drive. Is the 64 bit Windows 7 OS supposed to take up that much space? Or am I doing something wrong.
I am not seeing the same here. On my laptop, I have Win 7 64 bit on this little 60gb drive. I have Windows and Studio 2012 installed and I still have over 30gb free.
Check to see how much space your computer's page file is taking up, and make sure you run a disk cleanup after you've fully updated because the WSUS folder will take up quite bit a room, it's just full of files windows used to install updates.
Also a 64gb SSD after formatting, depending on the controller will loose a few gigabytes, IIRC sandforce controllers cause quite a large loss from formatting.
Dont forget you can also clean out the folder where all the windows updates install. C:\Windows\SoftwareDistribution\Download it usually holds around 2GB after a reinstall of Win7, its one thing CCleaner does not touch. Wonder if it has to do with them needing to be there to uninstall update if it breaks something???
