OCing 4770K with stock cooler (4.4ghz)

Thread Starter
So yeah, I had some free time and didn't know what to do so I decided that I'd tweak my 4770K with the stock cooler for a while. The reason being mostly that I've been hearing way too much about 4.2ghz clocks being the max people get on water, how the things run 100C all times etc. And since I screenshotted my results I thought that I might as well share them too.

So here's some stock cooler 4770K benches:

4.4GHz @ 1.05v (stock non turbo voltage)

4.2GHz @ 0.99v (highest I got with under 1v)

4.0GHz @ 0.949v (wanted to see how low I could go and still get 4ghz)

And the cooling solution managing the infamously badly OCing Haswell?

This:

But yeah, just wanted to share the little experiment. And also wanted to have a thread as a counter argument to people who say haswell is always extremely hot, doesn't OC at all and so on. thumb.gif

If someone wants to see more numbers I'm also open to suggestions as well smile.gif.

Just curious what was your ambient, I clocked my 4770k to 4.3 on stock cooler and hit 81C on the WEI test, ambient was just below 30C, but im pretty sure my voltage was a bit higher, just set on auto

My 4770k clocks very well. I have a CM Hyper 212 evo running my chip at 4.6ghz stable with 1.279v and never goes above 85c. i've got plenty of room to keep pushing it. A Haswell at 4.6ghz is about equal to an ivy running at 5.0ghz

They're not that unstable....

6 mins of AIDA64 at 4.3ghz and 1.01v as a quick run for example

Cine is a pretty good extremely quick stability test.
