Sigrig blew up, starting anew.

Thread Starter
Thanks to spontaneous and catastrophic mobo failure on my sigrig, ive decided to build a new budget gamer rig, as finances are somewhat tight this month. That being said, I came back to OCN again, to be pushed in the right direction. ; D

Im looking for a bit of an upgrade over my sigrig. Some notable processors I saw:

AMDs accelerated series of processors. These boast huge stock frequencies but lack a level 3 cache, and they run an integrated gpu. Any news on how well these apus run with a dedicated card?

Theres also the fx-4100 and 6100 series that I would not mind going back to, but it struggled a bit with newer games like arma 3 and crysis 3, at around 30 to 35 fps, with my sigrigs gpu.

I have no issues finding a proper mobo and ram, but my expertise on the newer cpus and gpus is lacking. If someone could point me in the direction of a decent cpu/gpu, itd be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance. :3

For a budget build I would stick with an AMD FX 6300 Black Edition chip they can be picked up around $120. It's pretty much a 6-core 8320. It has the same clock speed, it's black edition, only difference is L2 cache is 6 vs 8mb. Unless you need the extra cores save yourself the money and pick this chip up. Lower heat will give you a better overclock which may net you a few frames depending on the game.

Plus Rep if this is helpful!!

Microcenter has the fx 8320 for $150, i think its worth it for $30 extra.

Most games won't utilize all 8 cores. He will benefit more from lower temps for higher overclocks and 30 bucks to go to a better graphics card or mobo for overclocking.
