[Vr-Zone] - Xbox Dev: Xbox One has the answer to PS4′s hUMA technology

Yesterday, AMD executive Marc Diana stated that the PlayStation 4 has an advantage ‘greater than many expect’ over the Xbox One due to a new AMD technology called hUMA. Well, an anonymous Xbox One developer has responded to the news, and claims that the console he’s working on has something similar in place. Check out the details after the jump.

guy

Three things to be noted :

1-The guy did not knew anytihng about AMD's hUMA Technology until yesterday when he heard AMD executive Marc Diana talking about it. it also mention in original the source that he may not likely be working with the hardware and architecture department in Xbox one Development team

2- A guy called irobto commented on the artical saying " that Xbox One may be using Tiled Resources in DirectX 11.2 which, in a way, implements HUMA at software level" Unlike PS4‘s which implement hUMA at hardware level

3 - As with all news sourced from anonymous sources, take this one with a pinch of salt. We’re waiting for an official statement from AMD to clear up this mess.

Still, one thing does stand true: the PlayStation 4 is roughly 50% more powerful than the Xbox One. No one can take that away from Sony.

Honestly the only thing it boils down too. All this other stuff is arguing how much better it is, but the fact still remains it is better and not by a small amount.

Xbox one is a media box with gaming as a secondary focus, PS4 is a gaming console with media as a secondary focus. Their presentation confirmed XB1's development was mostly focused on things that are not games.

I personally believe actions are judged by intentions. Microsoft tried to sell us away to advertising companies, while sony actually wanted to make people happier just like the old psone days. In the end, I think ms got what they deserved.

I don't understand how that post got an article written about it. One post of someone who claims to be a dev, on the xbone subreddit of reddit. That subreddit is a joke to the rest of the reddit community. It's kind of a red headed stepchild of /r/gaming and /r/games. It is full of inaccuracies and completely ridiculous. I wouldn't be surprised if the mods put that up themselves just for exposure. Heck /r/pcmasterrace has a larger subscription base and it is openly a joke subreddit basking in the glory of pc gaming.

Controversy sells... that is all the Xbox one vs PS4 is. They are really the same exact thing running two different OS's with the same exact components. Just like Cellphones.

Not exactly. Xboxone has a significantly weaker gpu than the ps4, however one may argue that it has superior media integration.

not sure how people think the Xbox One is less gaming focused than before.

Sony is trying the Internet TV streaming, they're going to push 4k ASAP to sell more TV's, then they're going to do anything media related to push more Vita's/tablets as well.

MS just seems like they're showing off a lot of media things because they're using it to help show off the kinect integration (all entirely new stuff)

There's very little need to just talk about the games and say "hey look, we also have games and they're the same as last year, just a fresh coat of paint"

Instead, MS is spending time showing off what's new about the console, while still launching with (22?) launch games and ensuring that Xbox Live provides the superior GAMING experience....

Not sure how Xbox One is any less gaming focused when it's putting out BF4, Ryse, COD, Forza 5, Project Spark, Titan Fall, Fable, Watchdogs, Destiny, etc....

sounds like games to me.

this

however

80% of the "media services" offered on both PS and Xbox DO NOT work outside USA

that is the biggest mistake of M$, sure, they will sell good in USA, even better than the PS4 maybe

but in the rest of the world...the PS4 is just gonna kill the One....just like the PS3 - 360 relation.

Just had an epiphany. Didn't notice you were from outside of the US.

Considering i'm from US, (right outside of DC actually) #2 location in the US for "techie" jobs, I'd just be one of those demographics that'd benefit from all the extra add-on services.

Maybe that'd help you understand why I'm looking forward to the PS4 a little more than somebody from one of the unsupported countries.

Media is secondary and should be because any of the two consoles has more than enough hardware to do it properly. Gaming should be the focus as that is what really ups the bar. If people want a fully featured Media Center with Blu-ray capability at an affordable price they will use the PS3 they already have or buy one now.

Watch out lacrosse, your PR contract with MS doesn't allow you to say such profanity.
