[Build Log] The Hero Magnum (Finished!) (CaseLabs Magnum M8+Pedestal) - Page 5

Update 12

Captain's Change log:
- added the modded pedestal with psu to M8
- moved the drives to the 'psu' side, added an old noctua fan (don't know type, but's an oldie)
- changed the position of the fan controller
- removed sound card (windows keeps messing with the driver)

to do:
- a cover on the fan controller, I dislike how it looks now.
- a psu cover plate at the back (order or make something myself)
- mod a cover plate where psu cables go into M8
- change the Noctua fan orientation to blow out air? (psu side)
- change the Alpenfohn fan for a classic Noctua (the Alpenfohn doesn't like the fan controller much)
- respray the mobo back tray
- cut a piece out the 120.3 rad mount bracket

In the future:
- add the UT60 360 rad on top along with only 3 fans
- add another UT60 360 push/pull in the pedestal

update 14: occupy pedestal

to do:
- add a 240 rad on top to make it easier for adding additional (graphics/sound) cards later; gonna buy the UT60 240 -DONE-
- add a 360 rad in pedestal -DONE-
- redo the tubes -DONE-
- relocate the drives to the pedestal -DONE-
- buy some longer sata cables -DONE-
- cut a piece off the inners top panel -DONE-
- just to be safe buy another liter of coolant -DONE-
- add the new sound card! -DONE-
- cut a bit of the 5.25" brackets -DONE-
- cut a bit of the NZXT Sentry Mix 2 bracket -DONE-
---
- clean all rads
- add coolant
- Leak test!

Please don't mind the dust..

You can still see the 5.25" bracket on the right, it will be replaced by a diy shorter one. The standard corsair sata cables were just 10 cm too short for it to work; disadvantage of reversed ATX.
Before I place the 360 in I need to measure where I'm gonna drill the holes for the tubes. And I'm not gonna drill until I have all parts in.

I will replace the XSPC for an Alphacool UT60 240, as you can see my choice of routing is simple. However..

..it did meant I had to cut a bit of the top.

So the top 360 returns to the pump/res, the middle 360 receives the coolant from the pump/res and sends it to the bottom 360, that send it to the cpu.

Probably not use that color tube.

Bottom 360. The green tube will also be replaced of course.

Luckily didn't have to drill through the case, just the plates.

The hard drive cage will be attached to the rad mount, and I'll replace the 2 (horrid) clear tubes too.

As you can see I now have enough room to add a sound card and maybe later another gpu.
And I'm using the XSPC EX240 rad instead of the UT60 240 as I wanted, because I ran out of funds.

I'll probably cut a mesh for the bottom holes, to make it easier to drain.

Progress!

The horror! The Alphacool UT60 240 was inspected by a %#$@! Anyway, I RMA the rad, don't know how long it will take so made some last minute changes.
(Again don't look at all that dust)

pretty much how it should look like (without the extra 240)

Going to mod the bottom '360 rad' mount so it will hold the 3.5" drive bays without their fan mounts. I will have to add some plates and drill at least 2 holes. These drives will be cooled by the bottom rad anyway.

Update 15: small bits and things

I got frusty when I botched a back plate of the pedestal..I wanted to add the drain on the back but I couldn't measure it correctly. So I went to the back up plan: the front.
Not the ideal solution but it will work.

Also I want your opinion about a small detail: GPU cables like pictured on left or on right?
