My mother told a new neighbor that I'm good with computers. redface.gif

Now this neighbor I have wants me to see if I can make her netbook run properly again. She's a foreigner and from what she's told me she already had it checked out by another person who tells he she needs to format the hdd and reinstall the OS (which is XP btw and the license key under the netbook has long faded out) or maybe she just needs reinstall OS.

:shrugs: I never used a netbook before but I took it from her to help my mom save face and check it out for her. And by check it out, I mean logging on to OCN and asking the guys there to help walk me through on how to resolve the issue biggrin.gif

It's an Acer netbook from 2009. Has no optical drive and turning it on gives me this crap: Warning: Spoiler! (Click to show)
"We apologize for this inconvenience, but Windows did not start successfully. A recent hardware or software change might have cause this.

If your computer stopped responding, restarted unexpectedly, or was automatically shut down to protect your files and folders, choose Last Known Good Configuration to revert to the most recent settings that worked.

If a previous startup attempt was interrupted due to a power failure or because the Power or Reset button was pressed, or if your aren't sure what caused the problem, choose Start Windows Normally.

Safe Mode
Safe Mode with Networking
Safe Mode with Command Prompt

Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked)

Start Windows Normally"

Choosing Safe Mode, Last Known Good Configuration, or Start Windows Normally gives me the windows logo loading followed by a quick blue screen bringing me back to start up screen and back to what's in the spoiler box. Does the same thing all the time. (I didn't try the Safe Mode with Networking/Command Prompt options).

So can anybody help with this issue?
