great! that means all your games can be played from the cloud off a Nvidia rendering farm with 100ms lag and medium settings at 720p

no wonder Valve saw the writing on the wall. If the hardware is weak because cloud doesn't need much personal computing power then the general sales of laptops and desktops will be targeted to selling windows 9/10 like a chrome book so steam games wouldn't play that well at all and PC gaming would be left to consoles and casuals which is pretty much where most people think it is anyways.
Cloud shouldn't mean that there is no local storage at all.
Still cloud gaming is something I with my internet ping will never enjoy dam you copper adsl1 lines

not storage but the trend is for tablets and phones with laptops filling the mass consumer home computer market for people who use them for work . Some people other than gamers do buy semi capable hardware but the cost saving associated with flogging weak hardware with a cloud OS will be too hard to deny so it could spell the start of the end for PC gaming (as we currently know it) unless of course there is an alternative OS / platform for PC gamers to migrate too ?

Hopefully Linux is mature enough by then (it's made a lot of progress, but still isn't something I'd recommend to the average user.)

The average users in my house are just fine with Linux because they're less inclined to futz with it. Most recently I had a gentleman hand me a windows 98 computer that he bought in 2000 (the HDD died) I gave him a 5 year old Toshiba with Linux and the gentleman couldn't be happier.

I think if anyone went from a 13 year old laptop to a 5 year old laptop they'd be more than happy.

I get your point though.

He's just the most recent though they all seem to like the software center.
