The statue of liberty's head shows the far superior tess and mapping ability's. The weather, the textures all way better than stock C3.
The demo showed different levels of detail in regards to distant rendering. Something the engine already does...they were simply showing that it was easier to implement.
From a developer stand point this is a nice addition but hardly is graphically impressive.
In fact the video even says "Automated geometry and texture LOD generation"...so it is not me that know's nothing about development.
And you did sound like a jerk considering you are wrong while trying to seem more knowledgeable on the matter.
As I said nothing here is really that impressive. The puddle PERHAPS but in the end it won't mean much as far as graphics are concerned unless you just stand there for an hour to watch it dry up. Not to mention this effect could just be animated while not using as many resources. So over all impressive in the fact that it uses GPGPU but rather useless in actual in-game usage.
Everything else was already done in Crysis 3. The marble thing could be argued but it wasn't THAT impressive at all...we can do stuff like that now using multiple different engines. This video is mainly showing off developer tools, no new graphic features.
So again I ask, what's so impressive here that we haven't seen before?
Also demos are just that...demos. Even the tessellated frog from the Crysis 3 demo was never actually IN the game...so to me all I see is a lot of fluff from Crytek that will never be used, even by them.Edited by AndroidVageta - 8/23/13 at 11:18am
