Having looked at your current rig, in all honesty, my opinion would be if you're still content with your 2600K, you should upgrade your GPU if anything and stick it out with your 2600K for another year. Wait for Haswell-E to upgrade your CPU and mobo.

And that is exactly my plan! I'm gonna SLi with 2 new 780's and go to 3 screens plus LightBoost, then ditch the HDD for all SSD's and water cool my rig - Happy days!!! smile.gifsmile.gifsmile.gif

Two extra cores is pretty good, if all you do is game but you want X79 for whatever reason you may as well just buy an i7 3820/4820k though...That's always been true.

I'm mostly wondering how the single thread applications will be.

I do a mix of things and some are single threaded

Still semi torn between a 4930k and a i7 4770k. 4770k is faster in single threaded operations, but the extra cores with the 4930k would be really useful for folding. Not sure what to do!! frown.gif

you use more than 2 pci e slots, go x79.

Well to start I'd probably just start with a single 780, but I plan on adding an adititonal one in SLI next year plus I might buy a decent soundcard and capture card so I guess that means I'd be using more than 2 PCI-E slots. Doesn't Ivy-E also overclock better from whats been released so far?
