The mobos ive seen so far have been for intel proccesors. anyone know of one that is for am2?

im pretty sure this is because of amd being slower than intel, but has anyone heard anything?

Thats the RD600, and its ATI's last chipset for Intel. ATI is now owned by AMD as well, just fyi.

And no, its not because of AMD being slower than Intel.

The R600 is AMD's (ATI) next generation graphics card supporting DX10.

RD600 is an Intel only chipset but it is based heavily on the RD480 chipset which was available for s939 (I know, I have a DFI RDX-200 CF-DR in my 939 rig). AMD CPUs also had an RD580 chipset which had full 16x16 lane CrossFire and is in some regards superior to the RD600 since the RD600 has technically been in development for longer and is considered older even though it hasn't been released.

In short, RD600 is unlikely to ever see the light of day as an AMD chipset but it really doesn't matter.

As stated before the RD600 Chipset is an ATi/Intel Chipset only. It's probably going to be the last one for Intel seeing how AMD now owns ATi. Which would be interesting to see since I read that now Intel/nVidia have an alliance so you're going to see good AMD AM2 boards with ATi Chipsets and good Intel Core 2 Duo boards with nVidia Chipsets. I'm personally going to get a RD600 Chipset but I wish ATi still made more Intel chipsets later in the future.

Well there is alot of hearsay that R600 is only for Intel and will be the last...However why do i think there will be just one more.

Well, it probably doesn't matter for me. I'm going to keep this build for years to come. Espeically because I can add another 2GB of Ram, another R600, and a PhysiX Card to my system without changing my motherboard. (The RD600 Chipset has two full lane 16x PCIe-16x slots and one PCIe-16x which runs at 2x for the PhysiX Card. )
