Sapphire HD 7990 crashes

Thread Starter
I bought a 7990 a couple of weeks ago from Newegg and I was wondering if anyone is able to help me figure out if there's anything wrong, and or what's wrong with it.
I Uninstalled NVIDIA drivers and installed AMD 13.8 Drivers. Temps on the card are fine.. no visual artifacting or anything, but the card would crash every time I started BF3. Crysis 3 would often crash (red screen computer crash). Most other games I played I experienced no issues, but the computer did crash while idling a few times when I was away from it, with nothing running at times... other times with just chrome running. I did not experience this before with my GTX 580.
I decided to re-install Windows. I installed AMD 13.4 Drivers. BF3 and Crysis 3 ran fine, but I experienced 2 idle crashes in the span of 3 days so I decided to run Driver Verifier and experienced BSOD's with every Windows start up. Updated drivers to 13.8 v2 today, and Driver Verifier stopped giving me BSODs. The only time I am able to replicate a red screen computer crash so far, is when I fiddle around with the graphics settings in Crysis 3. Is there something wrong with this card? Should it be doing this or am I being too worried?

Any feedback would be greatly appreciated smile.gif

PSU: Thermaltake TR2 RX 850W
CPU: Intel 3770k @3.5GHz

I have been running two 7990 Maltas initially for work and now for fun for a few months, and just water-cooled them. What you describe sounds more like driver issues, and possibly memory settings. I've been running AMD 13.6Beta2 and they have been very stable so far.

The only time I did have issues was early on with NVidia drivers still on the system...once I took NVidia drivers off, some (but not all) 3D apps didn't work anymore / work right with the AMD 7990s...a complete reinstall of AMD CCC after cleaning out everything else solved those.
