Speakers Aren't Getting Any Signal!

Thread Starter
Hello all,

I just installed a new ATI Radeon HD 4350 graphics card in my desktop (HP Pavillion running Windows XP), and it is working beautifully, but now my speakers aren't getting any sound! The graphics card didn't have any sound ports so I know that I've still got the audio cable plugged in correctly. The Device Manager says I have the following drivers installed:

ATI Function Driver for High Definition Audio - ATI AA01
Audio Codecs
Legacy Audio Drivers
Legacy Video Capture Devices
Media Control Devices
Video Codecs

all of which are currently enabled. There was another driver, Windows WINMM WDM Audio Compatibility Driver, that had a yellow exclamation mark next to it, so I uninstalled it. I assume that I now need to reinstall it. Is this correct? And if so, where can I download that driver to reinstall it?

Have you tried checking for updates via Windows Update? It'll probably find the missing driver

The monitor has a VGA cord, which is plugged in directly to the graphics card right now. Trojan, I have already tried Windows Update; the only software that updated were some security features, no drivers.

You should check your default sound output in the sound menu. Chances are that it switched to the hdmi when you installed your new card. Make sure that your on board audio, or sound card, is selected as your output device.

Wenis, that sounds possible. How do I check my default sound output?

Ok really, my question is just where can I download Windows WINMM WDM Audio Compatibility Driver? I'm pretty sure that that's all I need.

You right click on the speaker on your task bar. I'm sorry I don't have my computer on to look through the exact steps. Maybe someone else can help?
