Crosshair V Formula, won't boot. Red CPU_LED

Thread Starter
After spilling water on my previous motherboard, I purchased a Croshair V Formula. After receiving the motherboard, I first installed everything, including my FX8350. When I tried to run it, the fans and pump would start up, but nothing would boot up. I read that older BIOS versions didn't support the FX series, so I took apart the computer I built for my dad and used his Phenom II to boot up the computer. After installing the new (or old) cpu it booted into the BIOS just fine. It was giving me a "CPU Fan" error, but it was booting up fine. I was able to install a new BIOS and everything. I ran out of time to look at what I needed to do to fix the CPU Fan error, so I shut the computer off. Coming back a few hours later, I tried to start it back up and fix the CPU fan issue. Except now it doesn't boot, just like with the FX CPU. The only thing I see is that the CPU_LED is red.

I've been spending almost every moment of my free time for the last few weeks trying to get my computer started, but I keeping hitting problem after problem... It's about to drive me insane.

What could be issue now?

Specs:
FX 8350/Phenom II 965
2 GTX 770s
8gb RAM
Rosewell 750w PSU
The gpus, cpu, and RAM are all under water.

Hmmm, you used the 8 pin cpu connector as it should be? I assume you cleared cmos, a few times. If not remove the battery and hold down the button on the back for about 30 sec, then wait about 5 min and try again. Could be a defective cpu...

I bought a Crosshair v formula,,,1st one,,,,just before the famous bulldozer came out,,,,,,go onto the ROG site they may have some answers for you there,,,your not the only one that is having issues with that board,,,i never had issues but I never updated the bios either,,,,left my bios at 0705 and left my 1090t in it and gave it to my daughter,,,,,if I remember right lots of guys were changing the bios chip,,,,,,you'll get VIP service at the ROG site also,,because you own a ROG product

http://rog.asus.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?117-Crosshair-Series-Motherboards

also set the cpu fan to ''ignore'' and that will fix that problem,,,same as mine

I,m not saying the bios chip is the problem,,thats what I remember about it

also I think you have to register the board to get the VIP service at the ROG site
