Starting My 1st WC Project, please share your thoughts.....

Hi

Afther years of OC ing on air only i now feel its time to bring in the water.

My expectation is to get slightly better overclocs and a more stable system.
And it looks gread too ! So ive read several articles and hardware tests ect. about WCing and i have selected parts that i think are pritty good to start a serious WC Project.
I will be starting with a (i think ) high end starter kit that i created myself just for the CPU at this moment, to get experiance and to see if i realy like it before spending all my hard earned cash! but keeping in mind that i will be adding GPU's and NB/SB/Mosfeds and MEM later on.
So the selected parts are based on that thought!
I will start with my currend PC Case a CoolerMaster HAF-X, later on in the next fase i will make a complete casemod from it as well, got some gread ideas, but at this point its just to early to say something about it.
So if you good people will have a look @ this list and tell me if i miss something, or suggest improvements, or maby warn me for having made a bad choise!?

Remember IM a First time Noob, and i have nothing WaterCooling related in terms of parts.

So now for the list:

Sorry for a late response mate but here is some input. From experience, I would wait to get any barbs or fittings until AFTER you get the main components. That way you can put that rads pumps res' etc in and then see the ideal flow...trust me, straight barbs etc aren't always easiest! Also I would try to steer away from temp sensors etc unless you found a reallllllly good guide...9 times out of 10 they actually cause MORE flow issues and they leak water pretty bad...

Thanks for your input, ill keep that in mind.

But as this beeing my first WC setup and case study i think its vital that i see what happens with the temps at various positions in the loop.

So i guess i will be using some teflon tape on the temp sensor inserts. biggrin.gif

Allso it would be intesting to see what happens when in a later stage i ad the GPU's and other parts to the loop.

Today i ordered the first half of the parts! next month ill get the rest so it won't hit my bankaccount all that hard.

So i got now:

CPU WATERBLOCK: Koolance-CPU-380I-Water-Block--Intel
PUMP: Alphacool-VPP655---T12--1-2
STRAIGHT CONNECTORS; Monsoon 19/13mm (ID 1/2" OD 3/4")
FANS FOR RADIATOR:Yate Loon D14SH-12 (2300rpm) ( 140x140x25mm )
WATER RESERVOIR Alphacool Repack-cooling Slot-In Delrin white Special Edition
WATER INSERT Aquatube/Cape Bullseye G1/4
LED ready Twin 3mm BRIGHT RED
Aquacomputer Temperatursensor IG/AG G1/4
13mm (1/2")TubeconnectorG1/4 incl O-Ring (High-Flow) - Rotary Black nickel

Flowmeter with filter in one: Gave up the FILTERKoolance Inline Coolant Filter INS-FLTR03 and the Flowmeter Koolance Transparent incl. elektronica G1/4 ; Saved me about € 40,- !
Allso got some Phobya Liquit metal LM

The rest comes from an other cheaper shop, and i changed some things there as well.
And Going for some Coollaboratory Liquid Ultra as well and do a de-liding of my 3770K to optimize temps!

So lot of plans for the next months LOL

Avoid the Primochill Pro LRT tubing, and get the Primochill Advanced tubing. The Primochill Pro, while cheaper, was an earlier generation tubing that was plagued by plasticizer issues. There's a rather large thread around here detailing the problems people had. The advanced stuff doesn't seem to be causing any troubles.
