[SOLVED] GTX 580 does not fit

Thread Starter
Just bought a used GTX 580 and found when I tried to install it that the card will not align with my motherboard's PCI-e slots properly. When flush against the case, it's still ~ 2.5 mm off of being able to go into the motherboard slot slot, and the same is true of the other two as well.

Suggestions on what to do?

Possibly relevant system parts are below:
Board: Asus z87 expert
Card: Gigabyte GTX 580 3GB
Case: Rosewill Thor

That is odd.. your case can fit up to 330mm GPUs and the 580 is only 280 mm... you MUST be doing something wrong mate.. the mobo is great too...
If you don't know how to install GPUs then leave it there. its not possible not to align... Pics PLS...

I use the same case and GPU, no problems here, did you make sure the card was slid into the back slot on the case it gets sticky every once in a while.

Pictures, as requested.

This is my first build, so error on my part is a distinct possibility. I actually was wondering when I found that the card didn't fit whether the tabs of the plate are meant to stick through the case slots like the slot cover do (see third picture above).

I think i know why this is happening. You said the card was used, right? so maybe the steel panel(pic3) of the card is a bit bend and thus it makes contact with the case or the opposite(case makes contact with card)..... Have a look at it. If it is bend, take a wrench and gently with little force try to bend the steel the other way(so its a straight line again). Also the DVI ports should not be that tight to the case.. make sure you have aligned the holes on top of the card to the case ones where the screws go to keep the card in place correctly..But for that to happen you first need to insert your card in the PCI - E slot tongue.gif
