Thread Starter
I am starting this thread to find out more information on what chipset will be replacing the 990FX/900 series as well as the new FM2+ chipset's better performing brands. I have seen the new Gigabyte FM2+ Sniper as well as the rest of their planned FM2+ lineup. Here's a link to the page:

Boy, the top 2 boards from them look pretty sweet! The thing that I still have problems figuring out are why the disparity on performance between manufacturers? For instance, the sata/sdouth bridge speeds between the top-teir FM2 A85X boards have a pretty wide margin from one to another. The MSI A85 top mobo has the beefiest (or one of the beefiest) heatsinks but falls behind other boards on it's sata performance/speeds. Why is this?
I personally don't know how to technically spot which boards will perform better until reading the reviews. More caps? Board/slot layout? The brand of the individual components?
Anyway, if anyone has any new information on any upcoming Motherboards or CPU/APU releases I would be happy to see what y'all have. I have been unable to find out any other FM2+ Manufacturer's lineups or anything really on the upcoming replacements for the 990fx/900 series either. I do know that the FM2+ boards will be backwards compatible with the Richland/Trinity APU's but the FM2 mobo's will not accept the upcoming replacement for Richland.

What do y'all know or think? Let me know! Thanks, oldcompgeek
