Rampage IV extreme for workstation use?

How good is the RIVE for workstation use compared to something like the Asrock Extreme 11? I'm going to be using Adobe master collection, CAD software, and programming mods and software.

Should work fine, but it is pretty overkill. Something like a Asus Sabertooth X79 should be more than enough.

But if you are building a workstation, why not get a workstation board? The Asus P9X79 WS is cheaper than the Rampage VI and it is certified for workstation usage. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813131798

A more expensive motherboard won't really improve performance by that much, you only get features for the higher price.

For a true workstation I would recommend going Xeon, but that is very expensive and the features that will be added are probably not useful for you.

I will be gaming as I well. I'm not a professional, but I enjoy lots of Workstation work; so I was wondering how the RIVE would turn out. Thanks for the reply smile.gif
I bought an Asrock Extreme 11, but I had to RMA because it was extremely faulty.

Get a P9X79, you'll have a quality board without all overclocking bells and whistles of the RIVE or the Extreme 11.

From 4 beta.
