Which is allowed^^

May I reccommend the unofficial beginners guide hosted on arch's website? It was nicely dumbed down so I could even follow it smile.gif

You may, but I have already read it. I'm not having any trouble installing the system itself....its just installing it to work on boot with mac. I'm sure now that I use rEFIt it would be a cake walk. tongue.gif

Some Mac's are down right hostile to Linux. My '09 won't take at all unless I install it next to WIndows in a boot camp partition and then only with Wubi and it's kind. My wife's 2010 no problem, my daughters for '07 no problem..

Try doing it in VMs so you get a feel for it before doing bare metal install with arch. Don't know how well that will simulate mac but sounds like just missing something small somewhere. I've been having difficulty making a VM of it myself following the guide. 2 attempts so far and both failures and don't know where I went wrong. But I do know that you shouldn't give up on it. As I understand it arch when properly executed is worth every bit of trouble it is (I think based on reading many forums & posts about it). Learn a fair bit by doing it to, have already learned a bunch myself just from trying to VM it.

*EDIT*
Got a working arch vm. Got lots more learning to do yet as I am getting nowhere fast installing a WM.

Arch is easy enough to install on a vm. Its very hard to install on a mac without a OS X operating system.
