LN2 Mode Header

Thread Starter
So i just got a maximus vi extreme and in the middle of putting it all together when i find this ln2 mode header. It has a little plastic cover over it so out of curiosity i pulled that off and after the last few hours searching i cant seem to find it again... Inside it had some metal which made it look like it joined 2 of the wires on the header together. My question is, will not having that on there effect the board at all?

Probably just a safety cover to stop the weaker minded population of computer users having a fiddle with things they don't know about.

By the looks of it, it's there to stop someone jamming a fan cable into it.

Probably also just to protect it as it is one thing a bencher doesn't want damaged on his board.

Did you notice there were any metal bits on the plastic cover? There is a chance it could be a "stock" jumper.

Yeah like the cover was covering 2 of the 3 pins and inside the cover were some metal bits that looked liek they made a connection between the two pins. Don't think it would be much, i mean it's an easy thing to lose in my eyes. Stopping someone throwing a fan on it sounds about right, it does look like one could go there. Oh well guess i'll find out when i finally put it all together

By the looks of the manual,
when the jumper is on from the factory it is in the default position, and when it is flipped onto the other 2 pins, it goes into ln2 mode. I have no idea what will happen with out. If it doesn't boot or something just make a makeshift jumper on the 2 far left pins.

Ahh okay then, yeah that was the plan, just solder it together or something because I won't use ln2 ever haha. Regret the purchase, waste of money for the most part lol
