So 2 days ago I created a thread to find the most silent GPU in idle. I didn't get very helpful responses. But then I found this on the webs and got high hopes : http://www.silentpcreview.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=19&t=65146

Following the link you can find a thread where several people are reporting it is possible to shut down the fans of their GPU in idle with MSI afterburner by setting the fan rpm to 0% !! This is great news! The cards in question are the 7870 gigabyte and the 7850 club 3D royal queen.

Can anyone that owns these card confirm this? And could all people owning various graphics card try this out and see which ones shut down the fans? I am so excited and happy !! I added a poll and could you please say yes or no and report which card you tested? I think this could become a great thread for people like me who want absolute silence in idle but don't care about noise while playing.

This is a glorious day.

0% fan speed? You mean zero core?

No, you just put the percentage slider to zero with msi afterburner. On some cards that causes the cards fans to stop spinning so you can do office work/schoolwork in silence. When you are going to game you slide them up again and they start running. I really want to know if it works on the newer cards.
