Quoting myself on the RSI forums (topic was about the Avenger, so it will read a little Avenger-centric but should be a valid comparison between the 300i, F7C, and Avenger).
Vs the 300i and F7C, the Avenger has the same power plant but a bigger thruster, suggesting a sprinter vs an endurance runner. It's a little heavier (2Kg) and notably less maneuverable than the 300i and F7C (of which we don't know who's more maneuverable, with the 300i having more fixed maneuvering thrusters v s the F7C's articulating and vectored thrusters). The Avenger has a fat cross-section from above/below (like the F7C) compared to a 300i, but also has more cargo capacity than either. Avenger and 300i have lower powered max shields than the F7C. For hardpoints, the 300i and F7C have 2x Class 1's (fixed guns) vs the Avenger's 3x Class 1's. The 300i has 1x Class 2 (articulated guns) available, the F7C has 2x Class 2 available, and the Avenger has no Class 2 available. All have the same 2x Class 3's (pylons) available. Only the F7C can support 1x Class 4 (turret).
The ship specs now add a clear role based on numbers for the ship: it is an interceptor for sure. CIG intends the Avenger to chase down and disable enemies, not dogfight them. It's bigger engine but same sized power plant and lack of articulating weaponry emphasize the Avenger's survival depends on sniping and "run and gun" vs "slug it out and outmaneuver".
