I must admit I'm finding it alittle hard to see any details about most of the questions I have. Any help would be appreciated!

Yes, low sec high sec and no sec will exist. I would recommend you grab the 40 Aurora MR+ Package so that you can secure an alpha slot (if you want one) while you explore the universe further. Digging up solid info is a bit taxing due to how scattered it is, I would start with "Death of a Spaceman" then move onto the dev blogs in the forums. Some one gaffing your ship in the high sec PVE zone is going to be highly unlikely. Insurance is also not going to be very expensive, as they seek to counterbalance the mistake that is LTI.

Heh, yeah. I've been scouring the RSI website for more information, I like the look of the constellation as I'm more of a "freighter" pilot. Saying that I've been playing EvE online for 11 years now but I've some ever-so-fond memories from freelancer, unfortunately I'll have to wait till after August for any purchases. I'll be fine without Alpha or Beta access but I would like to support somone who so Verhemetly believes in being indipendant and making a PC only game.

S42 sounds like a blast though! Just curious about the online element. I don't know if it's just me but I do think the game is heavily influanced by EvE online. Not a bad thing, IMHO we need more space sims.

I'll look more into it, especially the ships been looking into a stick and throttle too. thumb.gif

Some would say EVE online is heavily influenced by the world Chris & the ED dude created decades ago. thumb.gif

there was a game called privateer, it was in 1994 and you could fly spaceships, equip them, move cargo, hunt down pirates, pirate yourself. actually here is ingame intro, contains some ingame footage smile.gif you even had 3d and a multitude of camera modes, and you could look different views in your own ship. loved my centurion interior tongue.gif

ou yeah taurus predecessor of aurora and talon predecessor of avenger smile.gif

It is supposed to work like that in theory, but nobody knows yet. The persistant universe is far enough away that most of the fine details like how safe somewhere is are still fuzzy, and any details you do find could change by the time the persistant universe is announced.

Edit: im a bit late to the party but yeah, different levels of safety will exist.

And if you dont want alpha or beta access, you will be waiting quite a while for the persistant universe.

Oh I realise that. I'm not really intrested in it but most of the packages do sell it.

I think the biggest problem the game has at the moment is how fuzzy all the details are. It's not enough to worry me as I know it's a big project and having a strong background in C.A.D and games + animation I know what it's like, however I thought it would've at least been all planned out so far.

On the points that EvE has been influanced by the genre Chris helped define, I fully agree. No game is built without an influance from another, merely commenting on a like-minded modern game that most people ( I hope ) know about to compare to.

I don't suppose anyone can point me to a game that I could practise the control scheme on. Planetside 2 has 'nearly' the same mechanics for VTOL craft, is there any other? Failing that, does anyone know if the Dogfight Module will be LAN-able to get some private time not embaressingly crashing into stuffs ? tongue.gif

I think the fuzzyness is because so much effort is being focused on getting the Dogfighting module out and working. Once they get that in place, and spend some effort getting ship and weapon balance in, THEN they can refocus their efforts on the nitty gritty of how Persistant Universe will work, because they have to have Squadron 41 make sense in the universe. But thats just what i think.

As for games to practice on, if you just want general flightstick practice (assuming you have one) then War Thunder is a good option to learn the controls and how they work. If you want spaceship practice, then maybe X3 would be a good starting place.

pretty much confirmed that it won't happen until May. This is based off of people who spent all three days @ the Logitech booth.

I just want it before May 16th so that I can get some time in before i move into my new job.
