Well welcome back. Be prepared for low FPS in SC unless you re-mortgage and sell your soul. tongue.gif

Set in space, on spaceships and space stations, with advanced tech.

Pretty much that really, All the races are based off some Human faction that split at some point.

Anyways, back on topic a little, what would be the recommended specs for SC?

Since it's using a heavily modified Cryengine I'd imagine we are looking at some pretty hefty GPU's for most of the eye-candy.

Warframe is basically space ninjas. Most the locations are based on planets/orbital bodies in our solar system and allot of the missions are on space stations, with windows looking out into the vastness of space.

It is also futuristic. While in nowhere neat as space themed as SC or Elite, for example, it's the closest enjoyable game I have found where I can sit and stare at stars or planets. Also you get laser beams... And we all enjoy pew pewing with those... XD

Also totally off topic and ninja'd. I have nothing on topic to say. :'(

Well my 7970 struggles on V High at 1440p... So I would say 7970 for V high 1080p. 1440p you are looking higher than that for 30 fps.

For release I expect recommended for high settings at 1080p to be at around the mid range cards.

But TBH who knows. It's all gonna be a bout that optimization and I've said before, that's an ongoing struggle with game aiming for this level of fidelity.

Tell tale signs... Look at the current minium specs:

Yeah, sorry for not staying OT. I was just hoping there was space ships in war frame that I could fly to get my SC fix.

I currently struggle with my sig rig at 1080 in the hangar, but I haven't tried any of those cfg tweaks yet. When I struggle I mean a choppy 30-50 FPS. I think it's mostly the motion blur that's making it that way. Also, the lighting effects are too pretty-looking? Does that make sense? Too much glare, maybe.

I hear optimization will occur and I've also heard optimization won't occur (not as much as I hoped). I just built this rig and I don't have plans to build a new one or add to my current, so I hope the people saying it won't be optimized very well are wrong.

They want it to be the best space sim ever, but that requires people to actually play it. When they release the DFG, don't expect it to run well. At all. I expect to to be struggling on high on my 7970 at 1440p. It's alpha, they need to get the game stable and start to work on the bugs, before they stat on the optimization side of things. However they have already made headway with this, multicore support and 64 bit addressing mans they can make the most of every computer. the GPU side is going to be horrendous to begin with.

But alpha is alpha and I personally don't expect anything from alphas. If I come in with low expectations then as things improve so does my appreciation for the work and effort required to get it there. IF I can fly a ship without the game crashing I would consider that a successful alpha. If I get to shoot something other than AI then YAY! And no asteroids don't count.

I also expect a time period, after release where they spend time and focus purely on optimization. Similar to what has happened in the PlalnetSide 2 development cycle. They recently put new content on the back burner and are focused more on making-the game run really well.

Anyway that's what I expect. I also hope I can help them achieve this.

Short answer to the question:

Alpha - No optimization. It will eat your systems alive, spit them back out and go in for seconds...
Beta - It's getting there
Release - Average. Could be better.
After release - Constantly improving.

my single 780 was @1440p 30-40fps pre last patch, that made it go down do 23-30fps cause gpu usage went from 99% to 80-85%. i have a deluxe hangar with 9 ships currently.
when i switched from very high to high my fps went from 23-30 to 45-60fps @1440p

as said game is not much optimized, but 2 780s will suffice a single monitor unless you are pushing 3 monitors
also anyone using the last wonder driver from nvidia? it has fps increases in all games supposedly, do you get somethin in SC out of it?

thanks

Ok, so what I'm gathering from this is the people that say "gl lol don't get your hopes up for optimization" are the people who are looking at the "right now" or alpha phase.

I think there is a bigger group of backers that don't quite know enough about the game yet to shell out the money for an unfinished product. I think it's up to the current pledgers to start spreading the word after the DFM comes out and we get a good look at the basic mechanics. More backers means a better developed game and a fuller universe.

The excitement of this game sometimes makes me act like an idiot kid getting frantic over opening birthday presents. Why isn't it my birthday yet? Why can't I just open my presents noooooooow?

I understand that the game is still in alpha development, it was just nice to hear that there is hope for optimization eventually from someone else.

TBH I just want to be able to site in my cockpit outside of the hangar... I want to be in space and test the maneuverability of my ship. I don't even care about dog fighting at this point.

In my opinion, SC will be bigger than PS2. It will have everything that PS2 has and more.

Sorry for the fragmented thoughts, I'm not a morning person.

Yey, because if my opinion is different than yours means I'm automatically a troll. I am skeptical, because the project gathered so much attention and so much money, and naturally where expectations are going through the roof the chances of non-delivering also grows exponentially (I'm thinking GSC and Stalker series with their Open world and A-Life technology).

On the subject of development: I thought they've started in 2011. And if they did have to re-build cryenginge from ground up, then that would explain why it takes so much time, if someone could provide info, where they are talking about rebuilding cryenginge 3, I would be grateful.
