$250 is a stupid price. Anyone who melts a comparable ship is going to have to add too much.

I would jump all over the Vanguard right now if it had cargo capacity. That thing is sexy with its S4 main cannon with S5 capabilities. I think I'll stick to my Cutlass until Tali or Constellation CCUs are available.

i wanted to melt my reclaimer and cutlas game package for vanguard and hullc, but now with vanguard being rather lackluster *as i wanted a sleek centurion like ship, not a ww2 fighter bomber ...* will probably just stick to what i have

then again i think they will be offering all the 4 hull abcd ships on sale, so maybe i wait for hull c/d

guess cutlass is about as close as we can get to a centurion like ship, or maybe i ccu to a redeemer. that ship at least looks complete with crew quarters.

I can't seem to find any spectrum matches? It's been a while since I played. I haven't really played much since .9 and even then it was mostly just vandal swarm. What am I doing wrong?

Eh, depends on what ship you're melting.

The Vanguard is the first "heavy fighter" to be introduced, and the only fighter of its kind to be completely mil-spec and have redundant systems (2x onboard computer systems, 2x power plants, 2x engines with separate links, etc). It also has a survival pod, an EWAR and radar suite, internal sleeping chambers and reclamation facilities and that's on top of the extended fuel tanks and longer-range/multi-jump capability. This thing is a soloist's dream; yes, it lacks cargo, but i'm sure even the modular system can add cargo at the expense of something else on this thing.

It was also revealed in the latest Around the Verse episode that fighters like the Hornet/Super Hornet will not be capable of multiple jumps without refueling, so those fighters are essentially tied to carriers or must be near fuel depots. That's a pretty massive limitation.

I'm sure Hornets/Super Hornets still have an edge in pure dogfighting, but stick a competent pilot on a Vanguard with a competent gunner on its manned turret and I can't see a Super Hornet taking a Vanguard down, especially with the Vanguard's increased shields/armor, 4x Size 2 guns on the front and 1x Size 5 gun...that's some insane armament. Don't even get me started on its ability to carry torpedos...

From the CommLink transmission:
Quote:
"In combat, the Vanguard’s roles are extensive: long range jump scout, extended duration patrol/reconnaissance ship, fighter-bomber (when equipped with torpedoes), tactical command and control ship, bomber interceptor and, in the proper hands, even a fighter-killer. The Vanguard’s extensive range can allow for missions lasting days or even weeks. Internally, the ship is fitted with sleeping berths and reclamation facilities to support such missions."

And yeah...I just melted my Super Hornet LTI to grab a Vanguard. I think I made the right choice. thumb.gif
