The funding in the beginning is actually a gift from you to them that just happens to come with a package so you can play later. You can also steal them through pirating, Which is how I plan on acquiring ships. Who knows maybe a small three man strike team will be able to take down a small frigate......Maybe not but I would sure like to try.

They said that there will be no need to spend anymore after you buy a package with game, EVERYTHING will be possible to get with the ingame currency (and probably real money too). So basically you can buy the cheapest game package, and fight your way up to the top

If I where you, buy the Rear Admiral package instead, as it's pretty much the same as Vice Admiral at half the price, then you have $275 left to spend on extra ships! I got the Constellation, 325A, Aurora LN and a buggy, still under the price of Vice Admiral.
