MB suggestions for a i7-2600

Hi everybody.
My friend is upgrading his HP machine which he purchased back in 2011. He upgraded the GPU + PSU already, but the GPU will not work on the OEM H67 motherboard. (No display problem) http://www.overclock.net/t/1417422/gigabyte-hd-7970ge-no-display-issue The GPU is not the issue, as I have it on my system running atm and works like it should.
So we are looking for a solid board. My friend now wants to be sure that the parts are compatible. He is just very concerned, as he has spent a lot of money to the GPU + PSU (520e!) Yes, computer parts are expensive here.
What do you guys think about of these two boards:
Gigabyte GA-Z68AP-D3 or Gigabyte GA-Z77-HD3 or do you guys have other suggestions? (the Z68 costs only 59e, and the Z77 89e)
these will be paired with a i7-2600, 8GB OEM RAM @ 1333mhz (prolly made by Samsung), 7970GE, Fractal Integra 750W, 2TB HDD, Fractal R4 case.
Ok, stupid question but there should be no compatibility issues with monitors? biggrin.gif He is currently using a Samsung Syncmaster P2770HD 27'' 1080p monitor.
