3930k vs 3960x

Soo, i'm wondering which one is better for me? Money isn't a problem but i know the price to performance ratio of the 3960x isn't worth it. It'll be mainly used for photoshop and gaming. I also wanna know if the heat spreader is glued on or soldered on. Thanks everyone.

Heat spreader is soldered.

Get two 3930Ks and keep the best one if you are going after overclocks.

No real difference between 3960x and a 3930k. But I had have had two 3960x and two 3970x cpus that did 2400MHz memory no problem.

3930ks could have a more difficult time getting that speed. Also all my "X" cpus have been able to overclock to 4.8GHz no problem.

The IHS is soldered on to the cpu die.

I actually won't be heavily overclocking it. I know i'm gonna get alot of flame for that but i think the turbo is fast enough :/

doh.gif In that case, the 3960X might actually be worth it to you since it has slightly higher clock speeds, at the cost of $400 more.

I'm out

Get a 3930k and don't look back, it's overkill for both of those tasks.

From 4 beta.
