I7 3770k, GA-Z77X-UD5H for Ram compatibility Headaches

This my first rig and it's been over a month of research and i miss calculated mad.gif. One thing i left out is the ram So.. can any GA-Z77X-UD5H owner throw me some advice?thumb.gif

Specs i have

CaseSilverstone Raven RV03
CPU: Intel Core i7-3770K Ivy Bridge 3.5GHz
GPU: EVGA 02G-P4-3658-KR GeForce GTX 650 Ti BOOST SuperClocked 2GB is just for now but in a month or two i'm going to upgrade better graphic card.
Feature upgrade is : ASUS GTX780-DC2OC-3GD5 GeForce GTX 780 3GB Just single card.
MOBO: GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H LGA 1155
Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CML16GX3M2A1600C10) and I may upgrade to 32GB
HD: 2x Western Digital Caviar Black 2 TB SATA III 7200 RPM 64 MB Cache Bulk/OEM Internal Desktop Hard Drive - WD2002FAEX
SSD: Samsung Electronics 840 Pro Series 2.5-Inch 256 GB SATA 6GB/s Solid State Drive MZ-7PD256BW
Heatsink: Noctua 6 Dual Heatpipe with 140mm/120mm Dual SSO Bearing Fans CPU Cooler NH-D14

Ram: Corsair Vengeance 16GB (2x8GB) DDR3 1600 MHz (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory (CML16GX3M2A1600C10) alot of good review and it's cheap i thought it's the best to go. I didn't know that i have to find ram that compatibility for the mobo frown.gif guess what, i bought every parts already except the ram. At the final mins i'm about to buy CML16GX3M2A1600C10 and i found out that it's not compatibility for the mobo. Which i seen 2 threat causing the mobo to crash:mad:

Can someone please confirm me if CML16GX3M2A1600C10 ram going to work with the GA-Z77X-UD5H LGA or is it going to crash mad.gif
Ram i'm looking for is 8gb x2 for now. I'm going upgrade to buy another 8gb x 2 later for it to be 32gb. Why 32GB? i'm going to do lot video editing, rendering and gaming.
Any advice for 16GB ram = 8GB x 2? i'm really clueless now to finding that 16GB=8GB x 2 a stable one at a right money price.,
cheers.gif

I suppose you could check the QVL for your board if you're that concerned, but I've always used whatever RAM I wanted and aside from having a bad stick once, I've never had RAM issues. It's a DDR3 board, so most any DDR3 sticks will work. Memory is easy; I wouldn't worry about it. Likely most who complained about the memory supposedly crashing their system either have other problems or don't know what they're doing.

Make sure you install a 64-bit OS, as 32-bit OS's only support up to 4GB. And 32GB of RAM is overkill unless you're using some seriously RAM hogging software.

That's what i thought too GIGABYTE GA-Z77X-UD5H LGA support the 1600mhz and the ram CML16GX3M2A1600C10 is 1600mhz. Some of the complain said their ram causing problem and i dont get why it's not compalibilty , I did check on QVL, this is they only test few which the ram i wanted is not on the list which there's still hope. i guess i going buy it and spinning the coins for lucks so in next few more hours before i'm going purchases it, please tell me what you think thumb.gif

Unless you found a thread where specifically that model of RAM caused UD5H to crash, I wouldn't worry. There is also a chance that the memory was bad in the first place. Gigabyte also improved memory compatibility a lot with latest BIOS versions.

BTW if you didn't purchase it, why not buy something else?

This has CL8 timings compared to CL10 of Corsair for the same price. I have slower kit from Crucial which didn't give me any problems on UD5H. You can also look around for similar RAM. There are a lot.

This is what I have, and newegg has 15% off this kit.
