Radeon 7750 + an old Dell = opinions?

Thread Starter
I like to upgrade my PCs to the best of their capability, and I have recently acquired an old dell OptiPlex 755 SFF.
Here are the specs on that PC

Core 2 Quad Q6600 (soon to be a Q9505)
2x1GB DDR2 PC6400 (soon to be 2x2GB)
Kingston 128GB v200 SSD
275watt dell PSU

It currently has no dedicated graphics card, and I would like to add one. I know that the top end power draw is around 50 watts for the Radeon 7750, and the low profile version is still small enough to fit in 1 slot and not run into the CPU cooler. The other alternative that I'm considering is the 6670 (mostly because the 6570 uses the same PCB and draws the same power, so I might as well go for the better one). I've already put a 6670 into a Dell XPS 210 and it worked just fine for about a year while I used it. Both the XPS and the OptiPlex use the same power supply, difference is that the XPS ran with a core 2 duo and the OptiPlex uses a core 2 quad.

HELP

I really want to put the 7750 in there, but I'd rather not blow anything up!

if the 7750 has less power draw than the 6570 then nothing should go wrong. i wouldnt trust the OEM psu to run the system with an upgraded CPU and GPU, but thats just me.

Its US, not Euro voltage (erm 110v-120v I think, its not something I usually pay attention to). It has the CPU fan in front of the heatsink and it has a very small fan to keep the hard drive cool. And its only got the 1 SSD. Its a Small Form Factor (SFF) so it has almost no interior space.

well the q9550 will use slightly less power and run cooler. the stock 7750 uses about 60 watts, and Dell psus are somewhat ok for a "little" upgrade, so you should be ok.
