7950 @ 1200/1500 questions

I just played an hour and half of Witcher 2 on max settings without ubersampling to test out my temps on my oc. I ran it at 1200/1500 1.3v (target range in afterburner) and vdroop settles that voltage down a bit since my card has 59.9% ASIC. I made sure there was no throttling or any other problems with the oc via checking Afterburner. I attached the following screen of hwinfo64. I just wanted someone to reaffirm that my temperatures look okay for running 1.3v during gaming. This was with fan curve set to 60% whenever my card hits 39-75c range since 60% is pretty quiet and I can't hear it.

The image was a little cutoff so the temperature labels go in order as current, minimum, max, and average (just typing this for those who don't use hwinfo).

My TF3 will only do 1160/1510 and thats at 1.25 volts.

At 1.3 it will do a whopping 1165/1510
Still 20% increase

Does your TF3 have a 7970 pcb? I got lucky and mine does, also what's your ASIC % for curiosity's sake? I wonder what a 1200/1500 7950 can be compared to... I know I passed 7970ghz non-overclocked performance a while ago. I also haven't bothered overclocking the memory past 1500 since I heard it really doesn't give much gain.

No mine doesn't have the 7970 pcb (2x 6 pin) and the asic is 64.1%

What cooler are you running? Those temps are pretty nice for 1.3v.

I'm quite perplexed by the temperatures as well since my card is on air and is going solely off of it's own cooler, the TF3 that MSI puts on it along with 3 aftermarket Cougar fans blowing air in it's direction with 2 Gentle Typhoons exhausting from the top and my crappy Corsair H60 push/pull cpu cooler at the rear. Room/house temps are around 22-24c on a daily basis.

Those temps are really nice. Especially the VRMs.

I think lower ASIC > Lower Temps/higher voltage requirements. So really, what matters is temps at a given clockspeed. And those are still quite nice.

My Vapor-X with Fujipoly thermal pads still get hotter VRMs than yours [although at 1.25v/1325] MSI did a damned good job designing those TF3s

I agree, the TF3 is pretty darn amazing at least for me. It does make me wonder just how crazy the HIS X2 would have been for temperatures since it supposedly has even better cooling than the TF3. I also haven't pushed past 1200 core yet, but I might be able to go even higher than that. I'll give it a shot in a few days.
