Im having problems with my computer

Thread Starter
Just did my first computer build and sometimes I have problems getting the computer to turn on. Switching off the power supply via switch and changing outlets fixes it. Tonight I got an memory management BSOD. My friend is helping me with this. But he is at a loss for this. He thinks it might be a problem with PSU or defected RAM module or a motherboard issue.

Computer parts:

Haswell i5 4670k stock.
Gigabyte GA-z87x-ud3h. (CPUID say my bios is F5 should i take the chance and update my bios to F7?)
8Gb 2x4gb G. Skill Rip Jaws X @ 2133mhz (bios shows it using 1.60v). and I'm using X.M.P Profile2 (Profile 1 was being used when it crashed).
Rosewill Green Series RG630-S12 630W.

At the time before BSOD I had 1gb allocated to the Intel CPU. Its now set to 64mb. I did this as I will be getting my GTX 770.

So what could be the possible causes/fixes I could do?

Here to not having to RMA.

any system allocation of RAM to your CPU should be left alone. your graphics card does not process with system ram, your CPU does, as your graphics card has 1-3GB of its own onboard GPU RAM to use..

memory management, can be a variety of things, including an unstable overclock, reset yourself to factory defaults with a CMOS clear before anything.

He does not have his GPU yet its been delivered tomorrow. So I allocated 1gb for the I-GPU and now that tomorrow we were going to install his GPU I set it back thinking to default 64mb. But I don't think that's what causing his problem.

His CPU is not overclocked. I know his memory being set to 2133mhz is overclocked. Could that be causing the issues that its stressing out his memory controller?

But that does not explain the computer refusing to turn on when push the power button.

the iGPU will auto scale to ram it needs, regardless of what you set. if hes on an overclock reset his CMOS. then download memtest 86+ and run 20 passes, see what it comes up with and report back, if no errors your board and ram arent acting up. and i doubt without a dedicated GPU that the psu couldnt handle the load, hes barely pulling 200W atm.

it could also be a bad windows install / HDD thats failing if your using an older one.

Yeah I think he using a older sata 1 or 2 drive. He is already looking to replace it but has not really decided on a SSD as his OS drive or a beefy 1 or 2 tb harddrive I would like him to get a SSD either way.
