Haswell spiky temps

post #1 of 3
Thread Starter
hy guys,

So i have this issue ...
Under load my CPU stays at 52-56 C (while playing crysis) But sometimes it spikes way high up to 70 C and i do not know why that is ?
Did i do something wrong in the Cooler installation ? (Noctua NH-D14)
The spikes last like a second or two then gets back to normal .
I have done some stress testing and spikes where present.
For example after 3h of aida64 the average temp on the hottest core was 63.2 c with the max temp being 75 c (spikes).
What temps should i try to achieve ? are these ok ?

My settings :
Multiplier = 42
Vcore = 1.200
Uncore = 34 (default) Goes to 4.0 automatically
All C power states enabled
Turbo = Disabled
LLC = Extreme
CPU VRIN External Overwrite = 1.7
vRING = 1.050
XMP = Enabled

Haswells and Ivy's run hotter due to the TIM between the die and heat spreader on top of the CPU. Normally its solder so there is direct to metal contact.

Delidding and lapping have gotten people 10~15c lower temperatures.

So yours do seem inline with that.
