Should I upgrade to has well?

Thread Starter
Hey I currently am running Pentium G620 and a gtx 660. while the performance is decent I really need a new processor for all of the next gen stuff thats going to be coming out in the near future so tell me, Should I keep my sandy bridge MoBo and get a better sandy CPU (forget the chipset but can only handle sandy) Or should I buy a new MoBo and get a haswell CPU?

Judging by my pricing it would be about the same either way I go.

Going haswell would give you more performance out of your 660,

Heck even going to sandy bridge 2500k (or 2500 since i dont know if you can oc) would give you way more performance so you keep the motherboard.

It depends on what you are willing to spend.

I suggest that you just go haswell. The new platform will provide many new features compared to an older Sandy Bridge based system.
The motherboard you own right now is not the best, very very limited features. Getting a low end Z87 motherboard will give you many more features.

On the CPU side, for gaming a 4670K is more than enough. If you don't plan to overclock you can get the locked version for $20 less than the unlocked version.

If you decide to go Sandy, I recommend that you get a new motherboard, the one you own is a really really low end board, even a cheap P67 or Z77 motherboard will be much better.
No matter what way you go(Sandy or Haswell), both will give you a pretty big boost in performance. Your current CPU is probably holding your GPU back in most games.

I say go Haswell, but again, Sandy will work fine too.
