Budget Art/Gaming monitor

Thread Starter
I am looking for a monitor with a budget around at or less than $300. My wife is an artist so the monitor needs to be geared for that. She also likes to play games so good qualities of a gaming monitor are wanted but not needed such as 75hz refresh rate and 5ms response time. The computer I plan to build her will have 2 evga superclocked 150ti boost cards (full hdmi support).

Asus PA248Q is a 24" with good performance and feature set, this also has a ruler like measurement notches along the bezel good for designers and gfx artists. I like this, but I much preferred the previous model and a much larger but that's above the budget you've set.

But if it'll be placed in a room using room light and will not be facing or receiving direct sunlight not the HP Pavilion 27xi is also good in terms of size with its 27" screen and is very much perfect under your budget. I would like this as designer and artist myself because of the viewing size, viewing comfort, performance and at a much lower cost that most general 27" monitors. Also the design feels a bit more elegant than your usual black bezel ones.

Larger screens tend to provide eye comfort for those working with longer time periods.
