If you take that prescott itll drain your power like crazy...and BTW, that dothan is socket 479, not 478. Newegg marked it wrong along with the core yonah.
cant complain..

So prescott 3.0E would be the best choice and perform better after my old northwood 2.8?

keep the 2.8 and upgrade the Laptops ram

did you check to make sure that Prescotts are compatable with the labtop?

if it is compatable, yess it willl preform better, but Labtops are limited more by their GPU chipset and RAM amomunt

EDIT: make the poll changable, i voted wrong

i think you sould get more ram first. not really a huge diff between 512 and 1gig, but it will show more on benchmarks.

vid card: i would change the core speed to like 275 and bring mem down a lil to compensate. maybe 375?
changing GPU's is REALLy expensive for laptops.
maybe get new fans for proc cooling

GPU stock core is 350/200mem, got it stable 420/265... I would keep the cpu if there was OCing software for it, since there is non I defently want to change cpu! How is my 3dmark scores? (Recently I installed "call of duty 2" and ran everything on max dx7, getting 45-90 FPS. I than ran "medieval 2" on lowest settings getting around 20-70 FPS...) Is that the FPS I should be getting?

you really aren't going to be getting much more out of that laptop in gaming performance unless you get a new gpu. Sure the 9600 series were solid cards but if you are looking for new fancy looking games with decent fps your out of luck.

is it me or are 50% of the choices 3.0 E ??
