I posted about it. It's the fact that they try and make their mobile chips look appealing by winning benchmarks and then completely ignoring that they cost 10x more than an ARM chip.
Look at GT3 and Iris. They look like they're putting APUs and low end Nvidia in a danger zone of being useless, and then you look at the price and realize you could just get a straight up CPU with a high end mobile GPU for the same price and no one cares that Iris can beat GT 640 at lower resolutions.
The pricing for Core i3s is also ridiculous. They are like 90mm^2 dies that sell for $130. The only chips that sort of make sense with pricing and are decent values are the unlocked quads without HT, either on mainstream or enthusiast sockets.
Phi is ridiculous as well. Last I heard they were going for about $4000 a piece and they only competed with high end Quadros and Fire Pros. A Quadro K5000 is under $1800 on newegg.
So, like I said earlier, it feels like it's Intel not meeting goals and blaming the PR department when their stuff is so far out of line in price compared to the competition that it's very difficult to go Intel in most situations if you're worried about price to performance (and this isn't just an FX 8350 is a better value thing, which is arguable is or isn't, but from a large range of products).
Their PR team is good. They got people all worked up over Iris beating GT 640, when Iris can cost nearly $700 and GT 640 cost $70 the cheapest I can find on newegg. That's an absolute miracle of advertising to get people to think that Iris is actually good. It's the equivalent of making people think that FX 9590 is a very good value at $900.
That's why I think they are blaming PR department for failures in pricing and other areas and getting rid of them, and the fact that they're going to fire veterans who make more money and replace them with interns, who might not even get paid, is just a cherry on top of the cake.
