Thread Starter
I had a alienware as a htpc a while ago but it just didn't fit what I was looking for(heat issues) so I sold it off, now Im missing my htpc and want to gear together another one an im wondering whats the lowest possible hardware specs I could get away with for running 1080p playback.

Give the Celeron 847 Review and you can find it for pretty cheap: Newegg. Your other option is the AMD angle, similarly priced.

Then you need a case. The Antec ISK 300 is a popular option that will get you a case and a fanless power supply that has enough juice to power five of the above boards at 100%.

Add in some RAM and you have yourself a HTPC for under $200.

If i was doing a new built i would go AMD (A something and FM2 board) as they have the gpu on die and use windows 8 .. Corel is the best Blu-Ray play back for the price and the key is not limited to one computer as i ask them about it so you can add it to more then one computer.. i like the LG Blu-Ray drives and i use the cheap Rosewill USB Wifi .

Save as much as you can on hardware to buy the software as windows 8 and Corel would cost around $150 itself which total build should be around $300-400 depending on what parts you pick.
